The Children’s Museum takes families on an adventurous tour around the world, from Lake Winnebago to an Italian pizzeria and the African savannah. Visitors from toddlers to tweens can cast images in the Shadow Safari, explore the Great Toddler Reef, build a Great Wall of China, exchange money for world currencies, put on a show in the Big Apple Theater or produce a radio broadcast.
While the interior of the Museum allows children to travel the world, over 10,000 square feet of the Museum’s WinnePLAYgo outdoor space focuses on Fond du Lac’s “backyard”. A Shanty Town, Trike Track, Garden, “build upon” Scarecrows, and Picnic Area encourage children to explore their natural environment, inspire creativity and develop healthy behaviors.
Beyond the physical Museum exhibits, the Museum provides educational programs, such as music, science, culinary, garden, language, and theater classes, and specials, including free days. It is also supportive of community and statewide initiatives such as the Wisconsin Science Festival, Commonwealth Classic bike races, downtown events, and family festivals.
