Just Fare Market offers retail and is located in Fond du Lac, WI 54937.
Just Fare Market is a faith based nonprofit organization improving lives through global partnerships and fair trade. We strive to:
Just Fare Market is a non-profit, volunteer, non-denominational, 501(c)(3) retail link in the Fair Trade chain, partnering with wholesalers and artisans and farmers in the developing world to ensure: a fair price for products, empowerment and self-sufficiency, investment in communities and gender equity. Fair Trade encourages environmentally sustainable practices throughout the entire trading chain.
2006: A local taskforce received permission from the Session of First Presbyterian to use church space dedicated to a Fair Trade shop for the holiday season. The shop was a success, not only within the church, but also attracted the interest of many in the community.
2007: The Fair Trade vision was incorporated as a non-profit and Just Fare Market was born! In recognition of being a nondenominational community effort, the Just Fare Board was elected from many different faith backgrounds. First Presbyterian generously allowed the continued use of space and continues to give support in many ways, including grants. Holy Family Catholic Community has also been a solid supporter through volunteers and grants.
2011: Just Fare Market took a leap of faith and moved out into retail. We are currently located at the Old Mill Plaza in Peebles. Just Fare is fully committed to Fair Trade and is a member in good standing of the Fair Trade Federation. This network of Fair Trade advocates has enabled us to learn about wholesalers who represent producers who we continue to add to our Just Fare supplier family representing over 50 developing countries.
2012: Just Fare Market assembled a committee to initiate the campaign to make Fond du Lac a Fair Trade Town. The committee researched and identified local retail businesses and organizations selling or using Fair Trade products and found that Fond du Lac met the required numbers to be designated a nationally recognized Fair Trade Town.
2013: On January 23, 2013, the City Council voted on the resolution declaring Fond du Lac the 32nd Fair Trade Town in the U.S. and the 3rd in Wisconsin! Fond du Lac's achievement of the Fair Trade Town designation further signals the growing awareness and availability of Fair Trade products in our community.
Just Fare is privileged to participate in key community festivals, especially Celebrate Community and Prairie Fest. We also go offsite for Marian University sales and Christmas Alternative Gift Fairs. Just Fare is now offering non-profit organizations after hours community shopping nights, with a percentage of sales donated to the organization.
Just Fare is willing to present informational programs to youth and adult groups, and youth volunteers help with presentations to youth groups. Just Fare is largely staffed by volunteers and always welcomes new offers of help. Just Fare continues to broaden ecumenical ties, recruit volunteers, and educate the community about Fair Trade.
